It's been awhile...
If any of you wondered what was going on with this community, I left my job quite unexpectedly on a layoff. The last few month's have been nothing but stress. This was coming down the pike since January, though i was hoping to prevent it. I don't think I even got pics up from the last swap. D:
There were some beautiful markers last round, I loved yours, m31andy
with the hand crochet. They were outstanding. And yours, oakenking
, matched the inlay of a box I once gave my mom. Pink is my favorite color, neoqbacca
I will eventually get some pics uploaded, but for right now, I need to focus on finding work. I wondered if one of you would like to organize the next swap? Otherwise, as soon as I am settled in a new job, I will start another swap. Happy Monday!

I got all the markers today. They're great, but I just had a question- I recieved a set of my own markers back... is that how it's supposed to happen? I don't mind if it is, I just wanted to make sure there isn't a set i'm missing. I got 2 sets of red/pink, the set that is posted in the entry below, and the black circular ones.
I love all of them :)

Ok, so they'll be one day late...
I got my markers all made up! Yes, it's one day late - but I hadn't had a chance to make it to the bead store. The stock at the local craft shops has been boring me. Not to mention, they cost a lot more!
I really love these. They're cloisonne beads; it's great, because they're substantial without being too heavy. ( a couple more photosCollapse )

Swap #4 Announcement
Based on votes and participants, here's the deal.
We have four participants, but 5 voters. Since one of the voters hasn't commented or joined the community, I don't know if they're participating, and I think we should operate under the assumption that they're not. So counting the rest of the votes by the for sure participants:
We will individually make 5 sets of 5 markers per person. So that means each paticipant should send a total of 25 markers + 1 for me for distibution. These markers will be due on Feb 5!
Keep in mind, the sooner we get them, the faster I send them out!

Bumping this post
to arrange next swap!
THis is for anyone who missed the post yesterday, and not been at work due to MLK Jr Day in the US.

Time to start the next stitch swap!
I'm thinking freeform, what ever you want for a theme. That is NO THEME! Make V-Day markers if you want, or just a pretty blue. Either way, let's just be creative!
Who's interested? How many do we want to make?
How many sets do you want to make?
How many markers per set?
The dates will run similar to previous swaps. We'll start next Monday Jan 22. Please post your sets and a hostess marker by Monday February 5th. I will send them out the week of the 12th barring any delays. As always, the marker replaces money for postage!

Here are the photos and a key to who did what... There were lots of beautiful fall like submission this time. And some seriously good wire wranglers, too. :-) But enough chatter, let's look at the ( Sparkly!Collapse )
So here's the question: Does anyone want to try Christmas themed markers this close to the holiday? I'd love to have some for my Christmas knitting. Any takers?

Stitchswap #3 is in the mail!
Hey guys, there was a delay getting it out of my mailroom due to a mass mailing by my company. They should have gone out this Wednesday. Let me when you get them, and I'll post pics!
Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

Stitchswap 3 Updates
First of all:
Two packages received and all I have to say oh....ooooh, pretty! rita0373
, I don't know where you are, but if you can get yours to me a week early we could have them all by Halloween, and that would definitely suite the Halloween inspired markers I received today! If you can't, that's no big deal, but don't say I didn't warn you. ;-)
And here's something else I wanted to let you guys know about: I'm running this community. It's a fun little community and involves gifts in the mail. WooHoo!
From some of our promos: The next installment of Secret Pal on Livejournal is open for applications today! It is "live", and we hope that some of you might like to join us for this one, secretpal_lj3
!( If you're interested...Collapse )

Knitting Stitch Marker Swap - Another Community!
Hi all! I have created a new Community stitchmarkerswp
for knitters to make stitch markers and swap them with their fellow crafters.
I know we already have one community, but I love stitch markers and I think, just like yarn, you can never have too many stitch markers!!
This swap will happen every two months, and the dates are easy to remember. We have a 'theme' only that it's a color suggestion, and nothing more. Anyone can join and swap stitch markers, cuz they're so pretty and then your knitting gets to have shiny dangly bits!
I'm trolling for members, obviously :) Come on over and check us out. The deadline for signing up for our first swap is October 15th.
Thanks and take care!

I hadn't received any comments from last week's post, and I just wanted to check in with everyone. Those listed in the previous post are taking part, correct? Please comment here to let me know that you ARE taking part this exchange.
(I have all my stuff, and they will be pretty, but I want to make sure before I start making them. :-))ETA:
Thanks, everyone for getting back to me! The info in the previous post is correct 2 sets of 5 for 3 participants, 30 total! Yay!

Holiday Stitch Swap! FINALLY UP & RUNNING
I apologize with the delay. Work just slammed with me with a long term project that just about doubled my workload completely from left field. Huzzah for a better job; thumbs down for lack of focus!
So far: oakenking
, and I have signed up this time. Consider this last call if you'd like to join in!
THEME: Beacause their were so many requests, Harvest, Halloween, Samhain are the focuses this time. There are no design requirements except that it make you feel the Holiday Spirit, whichever holiday you'd like to focus on! That means, play with color & construction. =D
SETS: Based on the votes, there will be two sets of 5 per person. So each of us shound send 30 markers for the swap.
As always, add in a marker for the hostess. I'd love it to be Candy inspiured. Because that's my favorite part of the Halloween. Candy. CANdy. CANDY! That and the Great Pumpkin!
DATES: The stitch markers need to be postmarked 4 weeks from today on Monday, October 30. That means if you get them, I'd expect that you should get them in the mail the week of Monday, November 6th roughly.
POSTAGE is still not required this go round! I--ahem, my workplace really--am a postal fairy! ;-)
As far as a holiday swap goes, I'm all for it. I know thought, that fall's pace is picking up for me, what with gifts and what not. Let's touch base in November.

Holiday Stitch Swap!
Hey, guys, let's do it again! THEME:
Christmas, Hannakah, Yule. There are no design requirements except that it make you feel the Holiday Spirit! That means, play with color & construction, but think of it as motivating you to finish your handmade gifts this time next year, or if you start late like me...this year. >.<SETS:
I'm all for a small swap again, but I'm open to whatever the community would like to try. In that vein, a poll:
Anything you'd like to try that would make you wanna do it? Theme suggestions? Design elements that we should require?
As always, add in a marker for the hostess. I'd love it to be Christmas Lights/Tree inspired. Because that's my favorite part of the Holidays, driving around looking at lighted trees. Yup. No laughing.DATES:
Please let me know if you want to be involved by this Monday, September 18
. The stitch markers need to be postmarked 4 weeks after that on Monday, October 23
. That means if you get them, I'd expect that you should get them in the mail the week of Monday, October 30th roughly.POSTAGE
is still not required this go round! I--ahem, my workplace really--am a postal fairy! ;-)
Just to let you guys know, jennybean42
, has asked me to step in as a maintainer due to some unexpected life stuff going on for her. So if for some reason mod type stuff needs to occur, let me know. =D

I found this community because the info page has a link to my stitch marker page on wormspit.com - figured I ought to at least stop in and see how things are going!
I'm too late for the current swap, but I'd be interested in being involved in future ones.

Swap #2 Update
Hey folks! This is the week I was expecting everyone to receive their stitchmarkers, and I wanted to touch base.
I wanted to make sure that everyone had posted their stitch markers as of now. At this point, I'm missing one set of markers, but I'm not sure whose it is. I just received an unidentified set with no lj name. Is it yours, prozac_queen198
or yours lyzard13
? It was from NC if that helps.
As soon as I figure out what's happening with this last set, whether they're in transit or what have ya, I'll post these puppies out. They're enveloped and stamped and ready to go. :-D YAY!
